The bench is fully restored with all the iron work dressed and re-painted with green Hammerite hammered-finish paint (black also available). It is fully braced underneath with a central strap maintaining the slat spacing and the side braces resisting lateral sway. The new timber slats are French oak, planed and sanded all round. These are secured to the cast-iron ends with new stainless-steel countersunk bolts, nuts and washers.I have deliberately chosen this European Hardwood for its durability, however when freshly machined it is naturally very pale so to enhance the grain pattern I have stained it darker and then given it three coats of Bestwood Danish Oil UV. Whilst not essential, its appearance will benefit from a simple annual re-application of this oil, especially if the bench is exposed to the elements. (If left untreated it will bleach with the sun and turn to silvery-grey over time). Other photos show my short tables and single chairs.
I also produce a long table. I can usually supply to order immediately or within two weeks. All the following dimensions are approximate. The benches and chairs use the same matching ends which are 78cm high, by 61cm front to back. The long benches are 126cm long and the short benches are 61cm.The height of the seat of both is 43cm. The long bench weighs approx 35Kg and the short one is 29Kg. The tables are both 68cm wide and 66cm high. The long one is 123cm and weighs 36Kg and the short one is 58cm and weighs 31Kg. You are very welcome to see them before you commit. These are weighty items so collection is preferable. Otherwise you will need to consider the services of a courier company.
